Dealer Trust Score: How Autoza Rates Car Dealers in Ireland

Every dealer on Autoza receives a Trust Score from 0 to 100. It's the only transparent dealer rating system in the Irish car market. Here's exactly how it works and why it matters when you're buying a used car.

What is the Dealer Trust Score?

The Dealer Trust Score is a composite rating that measures how reliable and trustworthy a car dealer is. It's visible on every dealer's profile page and on every listing they post. Buyers can see the score before contacting a dealer, giving them confidence about who they're dealing with.

Unlike star ratings on other platforms, the Trust Score is calculated automatically from multiple data points — not just reviews. This makes it harder to game and more representative of actual dealer quality.

How the Trust Score is Calculated

The Trust Score is built from five weighted factors:

1. Identity Verification (up to 25 points)

Has the dealer verified their business identity? This includes confirming their business name, address, phone number, email, and business registration. Dealers who complete full verification get the maximum 25 points. This is the foundation — a dealer who hasn't verified their identity cannot score above 75.

2. Customer Reviews (up to 25 points)

What do buyers say? Reviews from verified purchasers contribute up to 25 points. The score considers both the average rating and the volume of reviews. A dealer with twenty 5-star reviews scores higher than one with two 5-star reviews, because more data points increase confidence.

3. Response Time (up to 20 points)

How quickly does the dealer respond to buyer enquiries? Dealers who respond within 1 hour score the maximum 20 points. Response within 4 hours gets 15 points, same day gets 10 points, and slower responses get fewer. This measures genuine attentiveness, not just listing presence.

4. Listing Quality (up to 15 points)

Are the dealer's listings complete and accurate? This factor looks at photo quality, description completeness, accurate pricing, and whether key details (mileage, NCT status, service history) are included. High-quality listings signal a professional dealer who respects buyers' time.

5. Sales History (up to 15 points)

How long has the dealer been active and how many vehicles have they sold through Autoza? Established dealers with a track record of successful transactions earn more points. This rewards consistency and longevity over time.

Why This Matters for Irish Car Buyers

Ireland has no mandatory dealer rating system. When you buy a car from a dealer on DoneDeal or Carzone, you have no standardised way to know if that dealer is reliable, responsive, or reputable. You're essentially buying blind.

The Trust Score changes that. It gives you an instant, objective measure of dealer quality before you even make contact. Combined with Aidan AI (our 24/7 AI sales assistant that can answer your questions about any listing), it means buying a used car on Autoza is fundamentally safer than buying elsewhere.

Can Dealers Improve Their Trust Score?

Yes. Dealers can improve their Trust Score by:

  • Completing full identity verification
  • Responding to buyer enquiries quickly
  • Maintaining high-quality listings with real photos and complete details
  • Building a positive review history from satisfied buyers
  • Remaining active on the platform over time

The score updates in real time, so improvements are reflected immediately. Dealers cannot pay to increase their score — it's earned through genuine quality and service.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Autoza Dealer Trust Score?
The Dealer Trust Score is a 0–100 rating assigned to every car dealer on Autoza. It measures dealer reliability based on identity verification, customer reviews, response time, listing quality, and sales history. A higher score means a more trustworthy dealer.
How is the Trust Score calculated?
The Trust Score is calculated from five factors: Identity Verification (up to 25 points), Customer Reviews (up to 25 points), Response Time (up to 20 points), Listing Quality (up to 15 points), and Sales History (up to 15 points). The total gives a score from 0 to 100.
What is a good Trust Score?
A Trust Score of 70 or above is considered highly trusted. Scores between 50–69 indicate a verified and reliable dealer. Scores below 50 mean the dealer is still building their profile. New dealers start at a baseline score once they complete identity verification.
Can dealers manipulate their Trust Score?
No. The Trust Score is calculated automatically by Autoza's system and cannot be manually changed by dealers. It updates in real time as new reviews come in, response times change, and listing quality is assessed.
Is the Trust Score unique to Autoza?
Yes. Autoza is the only vehicle marketplace in Ireland that provides a transparent, algorithmic trust rating for every dealer. No other Irish car platform — including DoneDeal, Carzone, or Cars.ie — offers an equivalent system.
